The Consumer Affairs Division of the Ministry of Trade and Industry has set up VAT Hotline for the convenience of consumers and to answer queries on the revised Value Added Tax (V.A.T.) regime – 800-4277.
The Hotline will be answered between the hours of 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, Mondays – Fridays.
Alternatively, outside of these hours, consumers can forward their queries to [email protected]
The Consumer Affairs Division also has a mechanism in place which includes the monitoring of prices in supermarkets throughout Trinidad and Tobago.
This exercise relating to the implementation of the new VAT regime began during the period November 2015 – January 2016 and will continue during February 2016.
The Consumer Affairs Division continues to monitor commercial activities as one of its strategies to ensure that consumers’ economic interests are protected.
