Several workers are today on the breadline after being released from their jobs yesterday.
Guardian Media Limited yesterday announced the retrenchment of 31 members of staff, which started on May 3rd of this year.
Guardian Media’s management explained via a media release that staff reduction was necessary to ensure that the company’s cost can reflect the country’s new economic downturn.
The changes spanned across both the company’s television station, CNC3 and its newspaper.
Speaking with News Power Now this morning, President of the Banking, Insurance and General Workers Union, Vincent Cabrera said that workers ought to collectively take action and demand that management guarantee them job security.
Cabrera went on to add that it is unfortunate that workers were placed on the breadline during harsh times in the country.
