WASA subvention from Government amounts to some 2 Billion dollars

water-pipe1Despite the fact that many citizens across the country continue to complain about a lack of a proper pipe borne water supply, daily,

government continues to provide a hefty subvention to the utility.

Speaking during the Standing Finance Committee discussion in the parliament yesterday, former Works Minister and Tabaquite Member of Parliament, Dr. Surujrattan Rambachan questioned the amount of money refunded by government to the Water and Sewage Authority.

Utilities Minister, Ancil Antoine, in responding to the question posed, explained that the money is received from commercial

enterprise and then refunded to WASA

Mr. Rambachan proceeded to question the total sum of subvention given to the Authority by government.

In recent days, residents of Upper Santa Cruz, North Trinidad have expressed utter frustration over what they say has been almost

one week without a pipe borne water supply. CNC3 television manager, Sampson Nanton took to social media last evening to

complain about the situation. He is a resident of the Santa Cruz community.
