Following an assessment of health and safety standards at the National Academy for the Performing Arts in Port of Spain ,a recommendation has been made that the building be closed.
Arts and Multiculturalism Minister, Dr Lincoln Douglas, told reporters this afternoon that the facility is still open at this time because there are two departments which are operational.
However, he did confirm that efforts will be made for those departments to be gradual phased out to make way for upgrade work to be done.
Minister Douglas said he will hold a media conference next week to give the public more vital details on a report which cabinet received from the Works and Infrastructure Ministry on NAPA.
