A social worker investigating and advising on the case of a 13 year old girl who gave birth at the San Fernando General Hospital in March, is today recommending that the newborn baby be given up for adoption.
The aunt of the teenager, a woman who resides in Diego Martin has reportedly offered to adopt the baby and as such, she is expected to be interviewed later this week.
Meanwhile, the social worker has advised Oropuche police to avoid questioning the teenager and querying the identity of the child’s father at this time, due to her mental state.
The grandmother and grandfather of the teenager, who are her legal guardians, are yet to be interviewed and questioned as to why they did not report the teen’s pregnancy.
Police have also revealed that the girls’ both parents are drug addicts who have no specific place of abode.
