Some Fourteen officers from the Santa Cruz Fire Station were rushed to the St James Medical Complex yesterday after complaining of feeling unwell.
President of the Fire Officers Association Ashton Cunningham blamed the officers’ illness on a leaking septic tank.
The officers’ illness meant that the station was unmanned for last evening.
Mr. Cunningham said that the Chief Fire Officer has neglected to treat the situation despite numerous complaints
He has therefore advised the firemen not to put their health and safety at risk.
