Seventeen motorists will appear in the Chaguanas and San Fernando Magistrates Courts Monday morning, after being charged at the weekend with drunk driving. They were held in police exercises co-ordinated by both central and southern police divisions.
The exercises were conducted along major roadways and near to popular bars.
In the first exercise, officers of the Central Division arrested 12 drivers who failed breathalyzer tests.
They were found to be above the legal alcohol limit of 35 micrograms of alcohol for every 100 milliliters of breath.
In the Southern Division police conducted their exercise on Saturday night, arresting five drivers in San Fernando.
The drivers were charged with the offence under Section 70 of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act.
