Police are today investigating the circumstances surrounding the accidental wounding of a child at Freedom Street, Enterprise, Chaguanas. The 20-month old toddler was struck on the head with a piece of wood, fracturing his skull.
According to reports, the child had been in the presence of two adults, his 42-year-old grandmother and a 36-year-old woman, when an argument escalated. The pair were said to have been engaged in an ongoing feud, and on Sunday at around 10:30am, the matter again heated up.
Police reports state that the 36-year-old woman attempted to strike the child’s grandmother with the piece of wood, but instead hit the boy on his head. The child was rushed to hospital where he is warded in serious condition.
