After four days of debate in the House of Representatives the 2013/2014 national budget has been passed.
Debate in the Senate begins today at 10.30 AM.
Finance Minister, Larry Howai, delivered the national budget, the Appropriation (Financial Year 2014) Bill, 2013 on September 9th. The Opposition Leader, Dr. Keith Rowley, delivered his reply to the budget on September 13.
In wrapping up the debate, Minister Howai said the national budget was not what many expected, pointing out the upcoming local government election, as well as a bye-election in the St Joseph constituency and general elections in 2015.
He said the Government was guided by the need for discipline and focus in its economic plans to put country first.
The budget was passed yesterday when the vote was put to the House.
