Trinidad and Tobago has registered 21 new positive cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Confirmed cases of the virus have now risen to 1,941, with 1,213 of those cases being active. The Ministry of Health in its 10 am clinical update today said the latest positive results are from samples taken between August 28 and September 2nd, and do not represent cases from the last 24 hours only.
While the number of virus-related deaths has steadily increased over the past few weeks, it remains unchanged since Wednesday morning, at 28. Ninety-six patients remain hospitalised for the virus – 73 (seven in Intensive Care and 12 in High Dependency) at the Couva Hospital and Multi-Training Facility, and 23 at Caura Hospital.
A total of 1,090 patients are in home isolation under continuous monitoring by the County Medical Officer Health (CMOH) offices. The Ministry indicated that the new positive cases will be processed for admission at the discretion of the CMOHs.
