An Arima man is now in police custody having robbed a maxi taxi driver of a quantity of cash, along the Priority Bus Route, in Tacarigua, on Wednesday.
According to Police, the maxi taxi driver stated that he picked up the suspect in Samaroo Village, Arima, around 9:00am and proceeded to drop the man off at his destination in Tacarigua.
As the suspect was exiting the vehicle, he pointed a gun at the driver and announced a robbery, before escaping with a quantity of cash.
A report was made to the police and officers of the Northern Division Area Central Task Force who were on patrol in the area, subsequently detained the suspect, along Black Street, Dinsley, Tacarigua.
The 22 year old suspect of Mootoo Lands, Arima, was found to be in possession of the stolen money and a black Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol, loaded with a magazine containing, nine rounds of ammunition.
