President Max Richards

Today he swore in the third Chairman of the Integrity Commission in just two years…

But President George Maxwell Richards says he is confident in the abilities of Media magnate Ken Gordon….

The President said Mr. Gordon possessed the qualities and abilities to carry out his duties without bias…

Mr. Gordon took the oath of office at Knowsley House this morning….

Ken Gordon

His appointment comes at a time when the Commission is still plagued with much controversy, involving its former head Dr. Eric St. Cyr…

The Integrity Commission was faced with contention five months ago when Dr. St Cyr expressed an opinion on the Prime Minister’s stay at the home of a friend, whose company was later involved in a million-dollar tender win at a State-owned company…

At that point, several Ministers, including then Works and Transport Minister Jack Warner called for his removal citing that his public statements may prejudice the Integrity Commission’s investigation into the matter.

Mr. Warner even wrote to President Richards calling for the revocation of Mr. St Cyr’s appointment.

Later on Dr. St Cyr revealed an investigation into Housing Development Corporation head, J earlean John was taking place…

But Ms. John indicated that the Commission never informed her of the matter prior to making it public in the media.

And again Dr. St Cyr came under fire….

He soon after resigned the post…
