A 30-year-old man lost his life after he was shot in Claxton Bay on Thursday night. Police said around 7.35 pm, Duane Wright was standing along Gibbs Trace, when he was approached by another man. There was a confrontation, and Wright was shot several times.

The suspect then ran into a nearby vehicle and drove off. People nearby who heard the gunshots found Wright bleeding on the roadway. The police and paramedics were notified, however, Wright died on the scene. Police said Wright was known to them, having been detained in the past. He was reportedly held just this weekend and had been granted bail on
Monday after appearing before the courts on allegations of possession of camouflage pants.
