This was revealed by, Minister of Lands and Marine Resources Jairam Seemungal as he addressed squatters the Preysal Community Centre yesterday.
Mr Seemungal said leases will be granted by year’s end.
He said squatters will have to pay as much as fifty thousand dollars for the lands they occupy.
Mr. Seemungal added that all squatters will be checked to ensure they did not own property elsewhere.
Member of Parliament for Caroni Central, Dr. Glenn Ramadharsingh was glad for the development of squatters in his area.
He noted that the squatters will be able to receive all amenities with the upgrade.
