The country’s murder toll has increased by one with the murder of a 33-year-old Freeport woman who was shot dead while liming at a bar.
The victim identified as Seema Balkaran, of Tiwarie Extension North, was at the car park of Tom’s Bar on Arena Road with some friends when she received a call just after 8:00pm.
When Balkaran walked away to take the call, she was approached by a silver Honda Civic vehicle.
The front seat passenger shot Balkaran in her upper body before the car sped off.
She ran a short distance away where she collapsed and died.
Her body was taken Forensic Science Centre in St James.
Police have no motive for the killing, but Senior Superintendent Johnny Abraham revealed this was not the first time someone had tried to kill Balkaran.
