Earlier today, the division took to social media to inform the public of the move to clamp down on the illegal practice.
Director of Maritime Services Division, Ronald Alfred, who presented the information, said that by month’s end, the penalty for breach of operating without a Certificate Masters and Owners of a local passenger ship will be $10,000 and six month in jail.
The current fine is $1,000 and six months in jail.
Mr. Alfred advised those who are involved in the party boat trade, who do not have the required documentation, to visit their website and their offices to obtain such.
Alfred also said that a register of all the party boats in Trinidad and Tobago could be found on its website www.mowt.gov.tt.
