Citizens along the East coast of Trinidad reported feeling the effects of an earthquake on Sunday morning. The earthquake occurred at 5:55am.
Confirmation of this came from Seismologist Dr. Joan Lutchman. She spoke with News Power Now this morning and stated that the tremor had a magnitude of 4.4.
Dr. Lutcham revealed that historically Trinidad has had large magnitude earthquakes and is due for another.
She also revealed that the eastern Caribbean has a known history as well.

She noted that the entire region needed to prepare itself for that eventuality. She explained that codes that governed erected structures needed to be enforced.
She also stressed the importance of individual knowledge of what to do in the event of an earthquake, especially a major one.
