A celebration of past Labour Leaders

by | Jun 19, 2014

KEITH ROWLEYIn his Labour Day message, Opposition Leader Dr. Keith Rowley stated that it was imperative that citizens commemorate the work of past leaders who contributed to our development.

He stated that Tubal Uriah ‘Buzz’ Butler, Adrian Cola Rienzi, George Weeks and Captain Arthur Andrew Cipriani, among others, stood out in our nation’s history as formidable labour leaders.
Dr. Rowley said there was no better tribute than to continue ensuring that all workers and employers work together for the overall development of Trinidad and Tobago.
He added that this year’s Labour Day found the labour movement, and by extension the nation, in the midst of grappling with a myriad of challenges.
He claimed it was the responsibility of the Government to facilitate an environment for national development, inclusive of the Labour movement.
Dr. Rowley and the People’s National Movement are expected to join the unions at their celebrations in Fyzabad today.
