A local trade union has joined its regional comrades in a push to get Caribbean governments to work closer with the labour movement amid the tough economic climate.

Seamen and Waterfront Workers Union President, Michael Annisette, in a News Power Now interview said this approach is vital to help avoid a tense industrial environment.

He confirmed that the labour movement is hoping to engage the heads of government when they meet again on the idea.

union2A National Tripartite Advisory Council has been formed which includes representatives from government, labour movement and the business community.
