This is the comment from President of the Downtown Owners and Merchants Association, Gregory Aboud. He maintains that the announcement of the new parking facilities is welcomed by DOMA.
Aboud revealed that DOMA had made a presentation to the then Minister of Finance Mr. Larry Hawaii regarding the need for parking facilities in the city and asked for a tax incentive for those interested in building such facilities.
He said that the Minister then began the process of trying to enact that legislation.
He disclosed that it was heartening to see that it had all come to fruition with this present regime.
Yesterday during a sod turning ceremony Chairman of the Nicholas Group of Companies, Issa Nicholas revealed that a 30 million dollar car park is expected to be ready for public use in downtown Port of Spain by July 2017.
