ACTING COMMISSIONER OF POLICE STEPHEN WILLIAMS SAYS THE TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO POLICE SERVICE IS WORKING
ASSIDUOUSLY ON IMPROVING PUBLIC TRUST AND CONFIDENCE.

HE SAYS THE POLICE SERVICE IS FINDING WAYS AND MEANS OF ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE.

MR WILLIAMS SAYS ONE OF THE PROBLEMS THE SERVICE GRAPPLES WITH IS A LOW DETECTION RATE FOR SERIOUS CRIME.

HE SAYS IN ORDER FOR THE SERVICE TO SEE A HIGH DETECTION RATE IT NEEDS THE HELP AND COOPERATION OF ITS CITIZENS.

SPEAKING ON THE POWER BREAKFAST MORNING SHOW ON POWER 102.1FM THIS MORNING, MR WILLIAMS SAID THE POLICE SERVICE

HAS EMBARKED ON SEVERAL INITIATIVES TO TRY AND BRIDGE THE GAP BETWEEN ITSELF AND THE CITIZENS.

MR WILLIAMS ADMITTED THE POLICE SERVICE HAS ITS SHORTCOMINGS BUT ASSURED THAT STRIDES ARE BEING MADE EVERYDAY.

HE SAID CCTV CAMERAS PLAYED AN INTEGRAL ROLE IN PROSECUTING THE TWELVE OFFICERS FROM THE SANDE GRANDE POLICE

STATION WHO WERE CHARGED WITH MISBEHAVIOR IN PUBLIC OFFICE.

THE OFFICERS WERE ACCUSED OF THROWING HOT WATER ON A MAN WHO WAS REMANDED IN THEIR CUSTODY.
