Chairman of the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission Keith Sirju, reveals that the utility from 2011 to present has been operating at a loss.
He made the comment before a meeting of the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament this morning.
Although he did not provide the financial details surrounding the situation Mr Sirju suggested that there should be a review of the cost at which T&TEC sells electricity.
Meanwhile, T&TEC General Manager, Kelvin Ramsook, told the sitting the majority of its operating cost is spent on conversion and gas generation areas where the utility has little control over.
