The winning selection for Road March 2012, Pump Yuh Flag, was originally supposed to be a jingle for an advertisement.

This was revealed at a media conference yesterday by Road March and Groovy and Power Soca Monarch Winner, Machel Montano, and the writer of Pump Yuh Flag, Kernel Roberts.

Speaking to the media Roberts said the reason why the rhythm for the song was converted into a soca track was because it was rejected by the advertising company.

Meanwhile, speaking about his Road March victory, Montano said he and his team were finding it very difficult to beat Iwer George’s song, No Pain.
