Speaking on the Power Breakfast show on Power 102.1fm this morning, former Agriculture Minister, Vasant Bharath said during his
tenure he was able to help maintain the livelihood of farmers, build new access roads for farmers as well as retention ponds to sustain adequate farming.
Bharath also pointed out that he was not in full support with some of the social programs implemented by the People’s Partnership Government, but maintained that his ensured that his Ministry met the needs of many.

Meanwhile President of the Agricultural Society, Dhanoo Sookoo responding to the 2016/2017 Budget which was ruled out for the
farming society said she is yet to see the Ministry take a particular road which focuses on boosting the industry and move away from
traditional ways of farming.
