The EMA said they were working towards fulfilling this mandate as outlined in the Environmental Management Act, Chapter 35:05.
The act stated that ‘no person shall release or cause to be released any air pollutant into the environment which is in violation of any applicable standards, conditions or permit requirements’.
Minister of the Environment and Water Resources, Ganga Singh said the enactment of the Air Pollution Rules is a continuation of Government’s commitment to the sustainable and holistic management of the environment.
Chairman of the EMA Dr. Allan Bachan stated that “the Air Pollution Rules is a major step towards regulating the air pollutants released in the environment.
Dr. Bachan said the EMA is prepared to commence work immediately.
