Police are investigating the death of a man who was facing rape and robbery charges.

Around 2:30 this morning Princess Town Police responded to a call that a vehicle was seen driving around Lothian’s Grant Street bearing no number plate.

Police went to the area where they stumbled upon the body of Marvin Johnson lying in the road with two gunshot wounds to the head.

Police found a knapsack nearby with a screwdriver, gloves, torchlight and a cell phone.

Johnson was well known to the police and was arrested just last week for a robbery.

He was released on bail over the weekend.

Johnson also had several additional matters before the court including 3 rape charges.

He allegedly raped a woman in front of her husband during a robbery and made the husband watch.

Insp Don Gajadhar Williams, ASP Ramdeen, Sgt Ramlogan and Sgt Ramoutar of the Homicide Division were all on the scene early this morning. They believe Johnson was comfortable with whoever shot him as he was found with his hands in his pockets.
