Police have found the woman and her daughter who were believed to have been kidnapped at around 10:30am on Thursday, in San Fernando.
The woman however has refused to give police a statement on the alleged suspect in the kidnapping- a close male relative who, according to eyewitness accounts, slapped the woman several times while at a commercial bank in San Fernando.
Newspower Now understands that the woman had requested the release of a large amount of money from her account, making the bank’s manager suspicious, however upon realizing that there was a delay in retrieving the money, the man reportedly became suspicious and reportedly directed the woman and her child out of the bank, where they left in a vehicle.
Later on Thursday afternoon, police officers under Cpl Roger Nanan of the San Fernando CID, intercepted the vehicle in Couva. The woman reportedly refused to give a statement or to be taken for a medical examination.
Reports are that the man is in the process of filing for a divorce and the woman- a close female relative had been holding a bank account for the him in her name.
