Transport Minister Devant Maharaj has revealed a major racket involving foreign used car dealers at the Licensing Office.

As such Minister Maharaj says he has written to Police Commissioner Dwayne Gibbs calling on him to investigate the report.

In a letter to Commissioner Gibbs dated April 16, Maharaj stated an audit was conducted which found several cases of corruption and fraudulent activities at the Licensing Office.

Newspaper reports also indicate that a foreign used car dealer allegedly used false documents to sell a Prado to a Government Minister.

Speaking to members of the media at the Ministry of Transport head office at the International Waterfront Complex in Port of Spain on Tuesday 17th April,2012 Minister Maharaj confirmed audits have been conducted into the allegations of corruption at the Licensing Office.

He said the results of the audits will be made available to the public later this week.
