Executive members of the Black Caucus Movement are seeking to obtain housing for Trinidadians of African descent.
The Black Caucus Movement recently went around the country to a number of HDC housing developments to expose the stateof some of the abandoned buildings.
The Movement laments the fact that many HDC housing development lie in waste while citizens have been petitioning for government housing. They are now calling on the government to account for deficiencies in the allocation process.
Head of the Black Caucus Movement, William Monroe is also suggesting that government hand over a number of houses to the Movement who will then distribute them, at a reduced cost, to those who have applied and have been waiting for many years.
Monroe indicated the Movement would facilitate the cost for renovations in a bid to restore the housing developments to livable standards.
Former Housing Minister Dr. Roodal Moonilal speaking on the Power Breakfast Show stated that the previous government inherited major problems associated with the housing sector, which limited their ability to distribute many of the homes.
