Police had to be called out to deal with riotous scenes outside the More Money pawn shop on Henry Street in Port-of-Spain today, this as people sought compensation for jewelry lost when thieves broke into the building last week.
From as early as 8 o’clock this morning, gatherscores turned up at the location, shouting and jostling to get into the store.
Many argued in disagreement to the compensation deal being offered, saying that the deal only refunded half of their jewelry’s worth.
Between 15 and 20 million dollars’ worth of cash and jewelry were stolen in the robbery last week. The perpetrators had entered the pawn shop from the roof of the building. The bandits had made off with the loot and the surveillance equipment that had been monitoring the business place.
