Don’t expect job cuts at the University of Trinidad and Tobago in the near future; this assurance comes from Education Minister, Anthony Garcia.

He explains that deliberations are ongoing with the Oilfield Workers Trade Union, which represents the employees at the UTT.

Minister Garcia gave the update while answering a question on the Order Paper in the Senate this afternoon.

Minister Garcia said he was not in a position to say when the discussions with the union will come to an end and a final decision reached on the way forward.

Mr. Garica also responded to a question from the Opposition, which inquired whether government intends to retrench employees at the College of Science, Technology and Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago.
