The Communications Minister has defended the move by Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Rowley to appoint Foreign Affairs Minister, Dennis Moses as a minister in the Ministry of National Security, saying it is in the Prime Minister’s right to make such an appointment.
Speaking with the media yesterday, Maxie Cuffy said the constitution allows for such choices to be made.
He said the choice was made by Prime Minister Dr. Rowley based on the available choices for the position.
In response to the appointment, Opposition Chief Whip, Ganga Singh said the Prime Minister’s move to appoint the Foreign Affairs Minister to the National Security Ministry demonstrates a lack of confidence in National Security Minister, Edmund Dillon. He said he also found it baffling that the Foreign Affairs Minister could be involved in local affairs.
