Arts and Culture Minister Explains TUCO Owes the NCC. Promises Government’s Support.

by | Jan 23, 2018

Government allocated $6.5 million dollars to the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organisation but the Culture Minister has revealed that TUCO has an outstanding loan from the National Carnival Commission, which was taken against their 2018 subvention.

Responding to a question posed by Opposition Senator, Wade Mark, this afternoon, Minister of Community Development, Culture and the Arts, Dr. Nyan Gadsby-Dolly, said in TUCO’s budget, which was presented this year, there was a plan that took into account the repayment of the loan to the NCC.

She said in spite of this, TUCO will still benefit from state funding this year to assist in its operations for this Carnival.
