The Minister of Finance is being mischievous by telling citizens that they are free to voluntarily submit their Valuation Return Forms.

This is the assessment of Attorney at Law Mr. Om Lalla.

Colm Imbert stated in as release that contrary to statements being reported in the media, he has been advised by legal counsel that no injunction or other Order has been granted restraining property owners from submitting Valuation Return Forms on a voluntary basis.

He said no injunction or Order has been granted restraining the staff of the Valuations Division of the Ministry of Finance from accepting and processing such forms and issuing receipts for same and no injunction or Order has been granted placing on hold or staying the Valuation of Land Act or the Property Tax Act.

Speaking with News Power Now this morning, Mr. Lalla revealed that while no offence is being committed Mr. Imbert is being mischievous by trying to get around the ruling of the court.

He said based on the court’s position that there is a stay in the process persons are not obligated to submit Valuations Forms at present.
