Completely unacceptable, this is how Attorney at Law Om Lalla has described the selection process for a Police Commissioner.
PSC Chairman, Dr Maria Therese –Gomez recently gave a timeline of six months for the completion of the process to select a substantive Police Commissioner.
She made the revelation following the official swearing ceremony for Dinanath Ramkissoon as a PSC member.
The tenure of Acting Police Commissioner, Stephen Williams, has been extended on several occasions.
Lalla revealed that it was unacceptable that it took so long for the matter to be addressed.
He made the comments on the Power Breakfast Morning Show on Power 102.1 fm today.
He said that the crime situation was concerning, given the gloomy economic picture that had been painted for Trinidad and Tobago.
Commenting on disciplinary issues at the nation’s schools, Lalla stated that once there are no proper measures in place to deal with the situation it would only get worse.
