Attorney General calls for criminal probe into the St Michael’s Home

anand ramlogan1Attorney General (AG) Anand Ramlogan has written to the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Acting Commissioner of Police requesting that a criminal probe be done into the conduct staff at the St Michael’s Home for Boys.
A probe into the death of Brandon Hargreaves which was ordered by the Ministry of Gender Youth and Child Development was forwarded to AG.

Brandon died in April following fight at the home.

The report was compiled by the Inspector of Orphanages and Industrial Schools, Director of National Family Services an Official from Child Development Services and a senior policy officer.

It alleged two supervisors sat outside the room when Brandon lost his life.

The AG also read a series of sections of the report which alleged several  scandalous events.

He also revealed staff members were taking children to their homes and hotels.

The AG has written to the minister responsible for the homes to have errant staff members disciplined while the investigation is on-going
