Businessman Michael Patrick Aboud spent the night in custody after appearing before a Port of Spain Magistrate on allegations of firearm possession and drug possession.

Aboud, 38, of St Clair, appeared before Senior Magistrate Aiden Stroude in the 4B Court.

Aboud photographed with officers during last week’s search warrant execution.

He was represented by attorney Fareed Ali.

The State’s interests were represented by Police Prosecutor Henderson Andrews.

Aboud was charged for possession of a firearm; possession of 15 rounds of ammunition; possession of seven grammes of marijuana;  as well as possession of two devices adapted for the illicit use of a dangerous drug namely cocaine.

After the charges were laid, Ali successfully made a bail application on behalf of his client, who he said owned BW Fashions In Kings, Pembroke Street.

Bail was granted at $450,000, on the condition that he reports to the police three times a week.

The matter was adjourned to December 4th.

Later, Ali noted that there was no truth to some media reports that alleged that SORT had seized $10 million in local and US currency at the residence during last Friday’s search.
