Police are searching for a man who pulled a firearm on a woman who was holding a baby in South Oropouche. The incident took place around 2.00 pm on Tuesday in a bakery.
CCTV footage from the incident has been shared on several media pages, and the suspect is said to be a man of dark complexion, wearing dark clothing and dark colored shoes.
As a result, police are calling on members of the public who may know the individual to make contact with investigators.
According to reports, the 24-year-old woman as at a bakery in Harris Village, when the gunman entered the premises. He pulled out a firearm and while announcing a hold-up, he pulled at the 24-year-old’s gold chain to remove it.
However, the woman told police she did not hear his announcement, but only felt someone trying to grab her chain, so she confronted him at first. However, upon seeing the firearm she retreated. The chain, which police were told had an estimated value of $15,000, fell to the floor.
The suspect picked up the chain, as well as cash that a worker threw on a nearby table, and fled the scene.
The police were immediately notified and officers from the Oropouche Police Station, led by PC Maharaj, responded.
