Bankers Association President Urges Vigilance and Assures Measures Are Being Put In Place to Increase Safety.

by | Nov 12, 2018

President of the Bankers Association of Trinidad and Tobago, Nigel Baptiste, is urging debit and credit card holders to maintain vigilance when doing their transactions.

His caution, which was highlighted on Power 102.1FM recently comes on the heels of numerous complaints of skimming from several persons at one of the country’s largest commercial banks.

Skimming is a method by which thieves capture the information of cardholders and use this to get cash through automated machine withdrawals. A small device, known as a skimmer is used by tricksters to swipe information for the illegal removal of cash.

Mr. Baptiste noted the importance of individuals being very diligent when they are conducting their affairs.

He also pointed out that the banking system is taking measures to boost safety in this area.
