An elderly bar owner and his family were arrested and a pistol and a quantity of ammunition seized during an anti-crime exercise, by officers of the Central Special Crime Unit, in the Freeport area.
The exercise and was conducted between 2:00am and 10:00am, on Monday.
Officers, acting on information, proceeded to a bar at Arena Road, Freeport, where a search warrant was executed.
The search resulted in one pistol, along with a magazine, containing two rounds of .38mm ammunition, being discovered.
Two grammes of marijuana was also discovered on the premises.
The 71-year-old owner of the business, his 45-year-old son, 56-year- old daughter-in-law, 18-year-old grandson and 16-year-old grand- daughter, who were in the building at the time of the exercise, were arrested in connection with the finds.
