Following a fire that recently destroyed the top floor of Block E at the Barrackpore West Secondary School, the ministry of Education says it is anticipating that forms 5 and 6 students  can return to classes within one week and other students back to their classrooms shortly thereafter.

The Ministry says at this time, it is working to convert other areas on the compound to temporarily house students in classrooms in the shortest possible time.

Yesterday, Minister Tim Gopeesingh mandated a team of Ministry of Education officials to immediately visit the school to find solutions to the problem.

It is understood that members of the MoE team also held similar discussions with representatives from the Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers’ Association (TTUTA), the Parent Teachers’ Association (PTA), School Supervision, school administration, the Education Facilities Company Limited, among other

stakeholders.
