Former Prime Minister Basdeo Panday believes that there is one thing that must take place in order to solve the problem of crime in the country…Constitutional reform.

Mr. Panday was invited to appear before the Parliamentary Joint Select Committee on National Security to advise on how to tackle the crime epidemic.

Speaking with News Power Now he said that unless Constitutional Reform takes place, crime will continue to escalate.

He said that the entire governmental structure had to change because the existing West Minister system is completely unsuited to us.

As far as the Anti-Gang Legislation is concerned Mr. Panday said that it would do very little to solve the problem.
