Beach Volleyball takes Center Stage in Central Trinidad

Beach volley ballQualifying for the beach volleyball competition at next year’s Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil is enjoying another round of play starting at this time at Saith Park, Chaguanas, Central Trinidad.

The day-night action is also on schedule tomorrow and Sunday at the inland facility.

Double player pairs representing 14 Caribbean island nations including Trinidad and Tobago are in play in the quest to be among the top eight pairs to advance to the second of the four round qualifying phase.

TT’s twosomes of Fabien Whitfield and Daneil Williams familiarly called the Toco Boys and Josiah Eccles and Tevin Joseph are fancied to win through to the next stage of qualifying.

Whitfield and Williams are tipped for play around 6 o’ clock this evening.

Last week at Ocho Rios in Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago’s women’s duo of Apphia Glascow and La Teisha Joseph booked passage to their next Olympic Games qualifying stage by defeating Barbadian pair of Shari Matthews and Anicia Wood two sets to one in the playoff for third and fourth placing.
