As the dry season rages on there has been an increase in the number of bush fires that firemen have been faced with. Each year, such fires impact extensive areas. Bushfires can cause property damage and loss of human life.
With the bushfire season almost over, bush fires across the country have been increasing, leading to a hectic season for fire officers.
Deputy Fire Chief Roosevelt Bruce spoke with News Power Now this morning and revealed that even though the season started slower than it did last year fires have been increasing as the season comes to a close.
He gave an update on a fire that engaged the attention of fire officers yesterday on the Lady Young Road. Police Officers closed the road to vehicular traffic because of the seriousness of the fire. Helicopters also flew overhead providing help to fire officers in attempt to control the blaze.
However despite this Bruce revealed that fire officers were able to effectively deal with the fire.
