Businessman’s murder raises discussions on accessing licensed firearms

The murder of Enterprise Businessman Joey Basdeo over the weekend has led to much talk of better systems for business owners to legally arm themselves if so desired. Basdeo who was the owner of Joey and Laura Wholesalers of Enterprise Street, was shot dead on Sunday while leaving Reuben Lane in the community.

Speaking on the issue this morning, President of the Chaguanas Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Vishnu Charran said the process for business owners to acquire licensed firearms, should not be as difficult as it presently is.

He lamented that such gun violence in Central Trinidad, negatively impacts the view of the community by the entire population.
