Chaguanas West Member of Parliament and Interim Political Leader of the Independent Liberal Party, (ILP), Jack Warner says only a by-election can solve the situation in the Chaguanas Regional Corporation.
In Monday’s Local Government election, the United National Congress (UNC) won three electoral districts, the People’s National Movement (PNM), also three districts and the ILP with two.
Mr. Warner speaking with reporters at a service for the newly elected councilors held at the St Charles Presbyterian Church in Chaguanas, said if the Government was concerned about the people they would call an election.
Meantime, in response to this, Prime Minister, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, said there were laws governing what should happen when no one has a clear majority in a corporation.
