Non-governmental group Citizens for a Better Trinidad and Tobago is concerned about the double standards set by many adults and believes this is having a very negative effect on society.

C.B.T.T. made the point in a statement issued today which cited poor parenting as one of the reasons for the violence and crimes among many young people in the country.

Chairman of the organization, Harrack Balramsingh, spoke at the group’s eighteenth anniversary at its La Romaine headquarters’ this morning and marked the occasion with a Day of Prayer for the Nation.

Mr. Balramsingh said over seventy-five percent of the youth problems CBTT had dealt with over the  past eighteen  years were a direct result of poor parenting.

He noted many parents appear to be upright and religious citizens to the public but they are poor exemplars in their homes.
