Author, Dr. Louis Regis believes the loss of love for what belongs to us is one of the factors which have contributed to the struggles being faced by calypso today.

Dr. Regis who is the writer of a book entitled “Race and Nationalism in Calypso” made the comment on the Programme, Facing the Issues, here on Power 102.1fm this afternoon.

He noted that calypso music is not limited to the Carnival season but has been treated that way for years.

Meanwhile, President of the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organisation, Lutalo “Brother Resistance” Masimba, said the struggle for local music and content to be given the respect it deserves has been going on for years.
