The Attorney General Anand Ramlogan recently released shocking details of the findings of a report on the St. Michael’s Home for Boys.
The report described atrocities that had been taking place at the home including sexual misconduct with one employee allegedly pregnant by one of the residents at the home.
Diana Mahabir- Wyatt Chairman of the Child Protection Task Force has stated that she was in full agreement with the Attorney General sending the file of Brandon Hargreave to the DPP and the Police Commissioner.
She revealed that there was a lot that needed to be done to rectify the situation and protect residents of the various Institutions.
She stated that the Children’s Authority would be fully operational soon.
Mrs. Mahabir- Wyatt also disclosed that while she did believe that there was some truth to the findings of the report she was still hesitant to believe all that she has heard thus far.
In a recent interview Bishop Claude Berkly the Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Trinidad and Tobago, revealed that he was surprised at reports of sexual misconduct at the Institution.
Commenting on the interview, Mahabir- Wayatt explained that she herself was not surprised since this had been going on for years.
