Chief Medical Officer Dr. Colin Furlonge has said that his plans to travel to West Africa to view the effects of the Ebola virus have been put on hold.
He said that he was advised by the Health Minister to stay in the country and focus on strengthening systems here.
Dr. Furlonge added that after yesterday’s meeting he can comfortably say that this country is prepared to deal with Ebola.
He added that he is also confident that the Chikungunya virus can be contained if people pay more attention to their surroundings.
The CMO went on to say that while there are concerns about the quality of healthcare provided in this country, progress has been made although there is room for improvement.
